Circular Quest Lucerne came third in the ‘Ecology’ category of the 2026 LUKB Future Prize and has been awarded a grant of 2,000 Swiss francs. The award ceremony took place on 23 October 2026 at the Spinnerei in Emmenbrücke, held for the first time as part of Entrepreneurs’ Day, in front of around 400 entrepreneurs.
Out of 91 projects submitted, an advisory board nominated nine for public voting – three per category. From 21 September to 5 October 2026, the public decided which projects the Lucerne Cantonal Bank would support.

Experiencing sustainability in the city of Lucerne
Circular Quest is an app-based scavenger hunt that brings the circular economy, energy efficiency and climate protection to life in the urban environment. In Lucerne, the route leads to interactive stations. There, quizzes, photo challenges and decision-making scenarios provide practical knowledge on topics such as food waste, energy efficiency and sustainable procurement.
The focus is on local catering businesses and initiatives that demonstrate what sustainable action looks like in everyday life. The route is designed for the general public – for individuals, families and visitors to the city. Additional teaching materials and workshops are also planned for catering students, schools and businesses.
The format builds on previous implementations in Olten and Zurich and is being developed specifically for Lucerne.
A strong field – and thanks to everyone who voted
The competition in the ‘Ecology’ category was of a very high standard: first place went to Kiyo with its resource-saving toothpaste tabs, followed in second place by CircularBlades, which transforms disused wind turbine blades into street furniture. The jury prize of 30,000 Swiss francs was awarded to Nettle Circle, which produces regional textile fibres from stinging nettles. We warmly congratulate all the prize-winners.

We are particularly pleased that an educational project was nominated for the vote alongside product and technological innovations. This shows that education for sustainable development is recognised as a contribution to change in its own right.
A big thank you goes to everyone who voted for Circular Quest Lucerne, to the advisory board and to the project team at Luzerner Kantonalbank.
